Inspect Physical Disks with Get-Disk
Read-only PowerShell view of each disk's model, bus type, health and partition style.
01Command
$ Get-Disk | Format-Table Number, FriendlyName, BusType, HealthStatus, PartitionStyle, @{n='SizeGB';e={[math]::Round($_.Size/1GB)}} -AutoSize02What it does
Get-Disk shows the physical disk layer underneath Get-Volume: which disk is NVMe versus SATA or USB, its serial number for warranty checks, and HealthStatus to catch Predictive Failure early. PartitionStyle (GPT/MBR) matters before any reinstall or BitLocker work. The command is strictly read-only; changes require the separate Initialize-Disk or Set-Disk cmdlets.
