Run Containers With Podman
Use a Docker-compatible CLI that runs containers without a root daemon.
Run podman run -it --rm alpine sh to start an interactive throwaway container.
01Command
Command
$ podman run -it alpine sh02What it does
Podman uses the same CLI and image format as Docker but forks containers directly, supports rootless operation and can run pods. It is a drop-in for most docker commands, so scripts can switch by aliasing docker=podman.
03Risk
!Warning: Rootless still runs untrusted images; keep kernel and runtime patched and avoid --privileged unless necessary.
04Undo
✓No undo needed — this command does not change persistent state.
