View the SOCKS Proxy Configuration of a Network Service
Read whether a SOCKS proxy is enabled on Wi-Fi (or Ethernet), and which server and port it points to.
Run networksetup -getsocksfirewallproxy "Wi-Fi" — it prints Enabled: Yes/No, Server: …, Port: …
01Command
Command
$ networksetup -getsocksfirewallproxy "Wi-Fi"02What it does
macOS keeps per-service proxy settings that both System Settings and CLI tools (and some VPN/proxy apps) modify, so the system state can drift from what you expect. The -get verb is read-only and safe; if it shows a stale proxy you didn't intend, turn it off with networksetup -setsocksfirewallproxystate "Wi-Fi" off rather than deleting the server value.
03Risk
!Warning: This reports the state only — it cannot test whether the proxy server itself is reachable; use curl --socks5 for that.

- networksetup - Configure Network SettingsEvidence: Lists -getsocksfirewallproxy among the proxy verbs, which prints the enabled state, server and port of the SOCKS proxy for a network service.
- proxy_set_osx.sh — networksetup proxy setup scriptEvidence: The script uses networksetup -setsocksfirewallproxy to point macOS at a SOCKS proxy, demonstrating the same setting the -get verb reads back.
