List Network Services with networksetup

networksetup is the CLI twin of System Settings' Network pane, with dozens of forgotten verbs for automation.

macOSinterfacesconfigurationnetworksetupLow risk
Run `networksetup -listallnetworkservices` to list the exact service names (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, …) used by every other networksetup verb.

01Command

Command
$ networksetup -listallnetworkservices

02What it does

networksetup exposes nearly everything in the Network settings pane to the command line: DNS (-setdnsservers), proxies (-setwebproxy), MTU, TCP/IP, and per-service power. Every verb takes a *service name*, not a BSD device like en0, so -listallnetworkservices is the first thing to run. A quoted name such as "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" must be passed with the quotes; a trailing asterisk means the service is disabled.

RequirementsBuilt-in on macOS; modifying settings with networksetup requires admin rights.
!Warning: networksetup changes are system-wide and some verbs require sudo — double-check service names before modifying anything.
