Read an EXE/DLL's Version Info from PowerShell
Find out exactly which build of a program or driver file you have — faster than right-click Properties.
01Command
$ (Get-Item "C:\Program Files\App\app.exe").VersionInfo | Format-List FileVersion, ProductVersion, CompanyName, ProductName02What it does
The same data shown on the file's Details tab is available as the VersionInfo property of the file object. This matters when reporting bugs ("which exact build?"), checking whether a DLL was actually updated, or comparing versions across machines. The .NET equivalent is FileVersionInfo::GetVersionInfo(path) if you need it inside scripts.
