Read-Only Filesystem Check With e2fsck
Scan an ext filesystem for errors and report without repairing.
01Command
$ sudo e2fsck -fn /dev/sdb102What it does
The -n flag answers every prompt no and -f forces a check even if the filesystem looks clean, so you can assess damage on an unmounted volume before deciding to repair. Repairing blindly on a production system is how data is lost, which is why the read-only check comes first.
