Check your BIOS version from Linux
dmidecode reads the DMI/SMBIOS table to report the exact BIOS version and board model — the values you compare against the vendor's update page.
Run `sudo dmidecode -s bios-version`; pair with `sudo dmidecode -t baseboard` for the exact motherboard model to search for updates.
01Command
Command
$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -t baseboard02What it does
Before updating firmware with fwupd or the vendor's installer you need to know what version you already run. dmidecode answers this reliably, and `dmidecode -t memory` additionally lists every RAM slot's size, speed and form factor.
03Risk
!Warning: Values come from the firmware table and cannot be changed by software; on rare buggy firmware they can be incomplete.
