Disable the Widgets Button on the Windows 11 Taskbar (Registry)
Hide the weather/news widgets button on the taskbar for good using a simple registry value.
Run `reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v TaskbarDa /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f`, then restart Explorer.
01Command
Command
$ reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v TaskbarDa /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f02What it does
Windows 11 pins a widgets button (weather, news, and sponsored cards) to the left side of the taskbar, and many users just want it gone. The TaskbarDa value in the Explorer Advanced key controls exactly that switch — the same one Settings uses when you turn widgets off under Taskbar settings. Setting it to 0 removes the button; restarting explorer.exe makes it disappear immediately without a reboot.
03Risk
!Warning: This is a per-user setting (HKCU), so run it in the account you use. If the button reappears after a feature update, rerun the command.
