Renew a DHCP lease with dhclient -v
Manually request a new IP from the DHCP server and watch the negotiation live — the fix for 'interface up but no address'.
01Command
$ sudo dhclient -v eth002What it does
NetworkManager usually handles this, but on servers and rescue environments without it, dhclient is the tool. `-v` prints the whole conversation — DISCOVER, OFFER, REQUEST, ACK — which makes it obvious whether you're getting no replies (wrong VLAN, dead server) or getting rejected. To force a brand-new address rather than renewing the old one, release first with `dhclient -r eth0`, then request.
