Find Old Files With agedu
Discover disk space wasted by files that have not been accessed recently.
Run agedu -s ~/Downloads to scan a tree and print a usage-by-age report.
01Command
Command
$ agedu -s ~/Downloads02What it does
agedu records access times and builds an index you can query later with -t or browse in a web UI with -w. It answers questions like how much space belongs to files untouched for a year, which is useful before archival.
03Risk
!Warning: The scan reads directory metadata and can take time on huge trees; the index itself stores only inode metadata, not file contents.
04Undo
✓No undo needed — this command does not change persistent state.
